Hurricane Charley and Ivan had literally bankrupted at least one major insurance company and enforced several other national insurance providers to pull out of the state entirely. I learned this the hard way when my own mother's house was severely damaged by these two deadly hurricanes. Her insurance provider required her to pay for the damages in to fix the house before they even provided her money. Or they would not pay for the damages and they would cancel her insurance policy the following month. I wouldn't exactly call that insurance coverage.
