American Racism - Why Won't it Go Away?

America has been working for a long time to put racism behind us. Enter presidential candidate Barack Obama. Clearly, we still have a ways to go. Why do we still struggle with racism? The laws changed years ago, so why does progress lag? Why are most churches still so segregated? Why do famous (and not so famous) people continue to use insensitive language? Considering the institutional origins of American racism, it's no surprise we're having a hard time.
