In spite of a spate of recent legislation empowering the UK central government to take an active role in overseeing local government in the promotion of child protection issues, there appears to be little cause for complacency. Quite the contrary; more close watchfulness by the state in the strict enforcement of regulations both in spirit and letter is advocated.
