After three centuries of colonial rule South Africa has recently obtained its freedom from the shackles of oppression, racism and prejudice. However, all was not plain sailing as many or most of the residents still live in abject poverty and lack the basic essentials to live with dignity, integrity and with decency such as electricity, clean running water, sanitation and service delivery. Protests, marches and strikes continue unabated all over the country almost on a daily basis as most people feel that the 'Rainbow Nation' has been a mass delusion for them all. They feel that the local government has seriously let them down and have only delivered empty promises and handouts.
